Anxiety is a bit like stress on steroids. If you’re experiencing anxiety, it’s more than likely that you’ve been pretty stressed for quite a while. When you’re anxious, it’s more than likely that some of these feature in your life:
- Panic attacks
- Addictive behaviours and addictions… to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, gaming, shopping, dieting, the gym, food, etc.
- Adrenaline-fuelled activities such as wakeboarding, skydiving, downhill skiing, thriller novels, riding fast cars and bikes, etc
- Sick, anxious feeling, maybe in the stomach
When we’re anxious, we usually have an anxious feeling somewhere in our body telling us that we’re anxious. So, to take our mind off this horrid anxious feeling we do stuff to distract us. When we find something that works, we keep doing it and next thing you know we’re addicted to it. Yes, anxiety usually means that you’re displaying some addictive behaviours, some of which might not be terribly healthy.
The other thing about anxiety is that because you’ve been stressed for so long, you’ve become addicted to the adrenaline that the body produces in times of stress and when you don’t have it you seek it out, hence your life might feature a handful of adrenaline-fuelled activities.
Now, this session is not going to permanently eradicate your feelings of anxiety, because, the anxiety is symptom of lots of others stuff that needs to be addressed directly.
If you want to stop feeling anxious all the time, you need to tackle all the little things that come together to create the stress that then leads onto anxiety.
In the meantime, if you want to replace that anxious feeling that just sits with you all time with a more calm and peaceful feeling, then that’s what this audio is designed to do. You can listen to it as many times as you like and whenever you feel you need the support so keep it handy. You might even want to put it on your phone.
This audio treatment is delivered by Chris Milbank and Alexia Leachman and runs for 56 minutes.
